Tear Gas, Rocks and Rubber Bullets On The Border - It Will Get Worse - Update 11/26: US MSM Are Not Reporting Rubber Bullets Were Fired At the Migrantes But The Mexican News Sources Both Locally and Nationally Are

From La Jornada:

Con Gases y Balas de Goma Repelen a Migrantes que Intentan Ingresar a EU

Por, Blanche Petrich - 11/26/18

"Tijuana: The illusion of being able to assault the sky with slogans and banners lasted little more than three hours for half a thousand displaced from the Central American exodus. The futile attempt this morning to cross without documents the border to the most powerful and best armed country on earth, only with the unwavering will that has pushed them for six weeks to travel more than 5 thousand kilometers, ended badly.

 The US Border Patrol repelled them at the height of the El Chaparral gate with tear gas and rubber bullets fired from the United States into Mexican territory, leaving four injured.

 One of the injured is human rights defender Rubén Figueroa, of the Mesoamerican Migrant Movement, who observed the development of the events several meters away from the border wall. A tear gas canister shot from the north knocked him out. He was discharged after being treated at the general hospital.

 In addition, 36 people were arrested on the Mexican side, all Hondurans. On the US side there were captured 73 who had managed to circumvent the dividing wall through a gap. Several witnesses said that the detainees did not perform any violent act; that when the demonstrators withdrew and returned on foot to the shelter, patrols stopped them and handed them over to the immigration station. These, apparently, will be accused of "causing disturbances, fights, disrupting public order and assaulting citizens" , according to municipal police. And they will be deported.

 The march to the El Chaparral checkpoint was planned days ago. The commission of representatives and the organization Pueblo Sin Fronteras agreed to accompany the group with the condition that it be a peaceful walk.

 The blankets and banners were ready. In one it was noted: "Trump, we do not hate you" . Another prayed: "We come in peace" . And another: "Catrachos (Hondurans): 100% worker" . One alludes to the xenophobic campaign that has been felt on this side: "Mexico, excuse me if I have offended you in something" . Some children carried flags from the United States. They left after 10 in the morning with the plan to demonstrate in front of the sentry box that divides El Chaparral and San Ysidro.

The majority of those who cramp the oversaturated hostel chose not to join the column. Many went with the idea that it was a demonstration of protest. Others had the illusion that they could make the final leap. They carried small backpacks and a blanket tied behind their backs. Upon arriving at the vehicular bridge that goes up to the entrance port of El Chaparral, they ran into a riot police barrier from the Federal Police. Without success they tried with dialogue to move forward.

Half an hour passed and everything indicated that the demonstration would return. But inexplicably the police force neglected the flanks of the vehicular bridge. The temptation was too great. In an instant, the Central American migrants started to run along the side rails and shouted " "Let's go, let's go!"" They invaded the restricted area of the border port. Headed by a young man carrying a Mexican flag, several hundred went down the canal of the Tijuana River, passed on to the other shore, perhaps thinking that they were already in US territory, and advanced towards the port of entry. But they mistook the road and moved towards the vehicular exit. It was closed by stones and mud. Another small handful ran to another direction, saw an open gate and entered directly into the mouth of the wolf: the parking lot of the INM. A few ended up directly in the kennels of the Beta Group.

In a chaotic period, from the top of the vehicular bridge, one could observe the surrealist scene: groups ran down a corridor that led them to a dead end street. Moments later they returned and took a wrong turn again. Another contingent walked through the commercial zone and approached the barbed wire of the port of entry, in the middle of thousands of cars stranded by the closure of the sentry box. Others walked to the border, climbed an embankment that took them to the disused train tracks and there they ended directly at the gigantic metal wall. It was the end of the road. And also the end of the peaceful nature of the march.

Several migrants found a hole in the wall. Some 73 dared to cross it. They were arrested. A Border Patrol agent fired the first gas capsule. From there followed many more. And rubber bullets. In their retreat, other boys picked up stones near the train tracks and threw them against the wall. That's what US Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, interpreted in a statement issued in Washington of late as an attempt to transgress the infrastructure of the border fence and an attempt to hurt Border Patrol personnel by throwing projectiles at them .

Minutes later, on the same embankment groups of Hondurans, Salvadorans and Guatemalans were disappointed and alarmed. Some came tearful and had difficulty breathing. Others only saw clouds of gas in the distance.

Javier Bauluz, an experienced photographer who has recorded many other exoduses in the world, tries to relax for a moment in front of a beer in the picturesque Plaza Santa Cecilia, the Tijuanense Garibaldi. And suddenly he remebers an episode in 2015, when tens of thousands of Syrians and Iraqis fleeing the war tried to travel to Europe. They had reached Budapest. The Austrian government suspended the train run to Germany. The fugitives were stranded, in terrible conditions, in a country that rejected them.

They were totally against the wall, stunned. And one night a man came to shake them. He took them by the lapel and shouted: let's go. In 24 hours he organized a caravan that walked about 16 hours on the road, until exhausted. And that scene was the one that moved the government of Angela Merkel to welcome them. And he sent them to Germany on buses .

These are not similar conditions. But it does give the impression that for the epic displacement of Central Americans this day can be a turning point. And maybe in the shelter more than one will not be able to sleep, thinking about what is approaching. "

~~~~~
I don't know about you guys, but I can't sleep.  No word on Trump's "Return To Mexico" - that is, despite reports from Aristegui and the Washington Post nothing is official yet, Mexico has not officially agreed to the policy.
The remaining migrantes (minus the 500 men who were deported today) still need food, clothes, blankets, toilet things, happy things for the kids, etc.
  - Update/edit 11/26/18: The US MSM  (as well as CNN) are not reporting that rubber bullets were fired into the crowds of migrantes which included women and children by USBP, but the Mexican news sources both local and national are reporting rubber bullets were used against the migrantes. The US MSM has reported that "shot bangs" specifically two shot bangs were fired by the USBP. More Information:
 - Frontera is reporting that Presidente Hernandez of Honduras has objected to rubber bullets being fired on the migrantes by USBP, and he says there is proof that these bullets were fired.
 My neighbors are saying this evening that the whole catastrophe of yesterday @ the SY POE was a set up.  They think this rush on the Border was well planned in advance by Trump operatives with the goal  of making the migrants look bad and reinforcing Trump's "Wall Agenda". If you get a chance go to either Frontera.info or Zeta on Facebook and read the comments - the comments are mostly pro-Trump and super slick.  At any rate here is the Frontera report on Hernandez:
The point is - which the US press completely missed, this group that went to the pedestrian walkway actually believed they could convince Donald Trump to let them in - that is how naive they are. They do not understand (but they will learn) what a Nazi he is.  It also proves once again these people have no attorneys, no leadership, no one is explaining to them the conditions of asylum, they are disorganized and uniformed.  So basically this should once and for all bury the right wing runaway  notion that this entire group was financed by George  Soros or the Communists.
If they were paid so well to carry out their hopes of attaining asylum, they sure don't have any money for food or shelter.  So, the US article got that right - they are cold and they are hungry.  It's flippin cold here now, with drizzle and light rain.
 Of course, the US report never mentioned why these people left Honduras in the first place - no mention of how the US triggered and sanctioned the present despotic and repressive government  and military which has been using the Honduran people (especially the indigenous people of Honduras) as target practice, hundreds of them in addition to sanctioning the gangs on the streets. It was the United States who trained the Honduran Military in the first place.  So fuck you Jeff Sessions for going along with & announcing the  changes to asylum requirements just a short while back - you knew the US backed the Honduran government which sanctions gangs (and drug activities) - yet now, being fearful for your life due to gangs no longer can be used as a reason for asking for asylum. And these gangs make the US gangs look like altar boys.
Meanwhile food, food, food, blankets, tents, clothes all desperately needed ! You can always just drop things off at Padre Chavas. Why didn't the San Diego report mention that?
Of course by now you all know about the temporary restraining order put on Trump's new asylum rules:
Well, the authorities are saying they are looking for a facility to "rent" for the migrantes to stay in and Governor Kiko is demanding the Federal government of Mexico  give Baja California money to cover the costs.
Update/edit @ 7:00pm:  Aristegui Noticias has reported that apparently a deal has been struck and AMLO is in accord with the "Remain In Mexico" Policy, which has surprised many people:
 - From Aristegui Noticias:
 AMLO Aceptaria Plan de Trump Para Que Solicitantes de Asilo Esperen en Mexico
And Trump then not only has ordered the US Military to use deadly force against the migrantes but threatens  to completely shut down the Border.  Check this out:
 - From Aristegui Noticas:
Soldados Estadounidenses Autorizados Para Usar "Fuerza Leta" Contra Migrantes: Trump
"President Donald Trump said Thursday that he authorized US troops on the US-Mexico border to "use lethal force" if necessary against the migrant caravan, while threatening to close "the entire border" with Mexico, If the immigration situation goes out of control. "If it reaches a level where we lose control or people may be injured, we will close the entry to the country for a period of time .
The entire border, "he told reporters after a telephone conversation with members of the Army. There is "a very bad situation" in Tijuana, Trump said, and he said he authorized US soldiers to use deadly force against migrants "if they have to."
 "I have given my approval (...) I hope you do not have to do it. You are dealing with a minimum of 500 serious criminals (...) I have no other choice. I want that to happen? Absolutely not. You are dealing with rude people, "he said. HAPPY THANKSGIVING: Pres. Trump holds a teleconference to wish service members around the world to happy Thanksgiving. https://t.co/c9mlzpNYKg - ABC News (@ABC) November 22, 2018
 After a telephone conversation with military leaders on Thanksgiving Day , Trump also said that "there certainly could be" a government shutdown in December for financing the border wall.
 Trump received an updated report from the air commander, General David Lyons, on the state of the fight against the Taliban and members of the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan and took the opportunity to refer to the migrant caravan.
 "Keep them away from our shores. That is why we are making strong borders, you have surely seen in the news what happens on the southern border (...) large contingents and in many cases we do not know who they are and in many cases they are bad people, bad people, "said Trump from West Palm Beach. "We are not going to let anyone in, essentially (...) you are doing it over there, we are doing it here. We have their people on the border, military on the border for the first time (...) There has never been a Presidency like this, we have a powerful border now, "he said. Trump said the United States has the border wall and "with things that people can not even imagine." "We took care of the decomposed wall and wrapped it with barbed wire 'plus', and no one is going to enter these walls," said the president
. A San Francisco court recently invalidated Trump's plan to limit asylum or refugee applications to US border crossing points, since the law allows it to do so from anywhere in the country. "It's a terrible thing when the judges tell you how to protect the border, it's a disgrace. We are winning and you are winning, "he told the military commander. During the conversation, to commemorate the main non-religious holiday in the United States, the president made a round of talks with military leaders of the various branches of the Armed Forces and the Coast Guard.  "
~~~~~

 - More on the Thanksgiving Day threats from Trump:

I noticed this AP article on MSN in the wee hours of the morning; since then, the original article has been re-written to exclude Trump's statement on migrantes.  I was able to find the original AP article where Trump says:

"Trump asserted that there are "fistfights all over the streets" in Tijuana, Mexico, and that "these are not like normal, innocent people."

"These are people you talk to them and they start a fistfight," he said. "I don't want that in this country."

The people of Tijuana "opened up with wide arms" to welcome the caravan, Trump said, and "now they're going crazy to get them out ... because bad things are happening."

He said if U.S. officials "find that it's incontrollable, if we find that it gets to a level where we are going to lose control or where people are going to start getting hurt, we will close entry into the country for a period of time until we can get it under control. The whole border."

Naturally these are more lies by Trump.  It has already been established what happened here, that it was the anti-immigrante groups who reacted violently to the migrantes - not the other way around.

 - So far, what we are reading locally is that there are 4,000 migrantes here which is a lower number than Buzz Feed. So, where are these folks supposed to stay? Let's look at the local coverage, I'll highlight a few reports going back to reactions of the near riots of the anti-immigrantes. You will recognize Angel Gonzales the author who keeps track of the executions in Tijuana:

From Frontera: (I wasn't the only one who was shocked)

No Esperaba Que Tijuana Materialializan Xenofobia:  Corresponsal de Telesur
Por, Angel Gonzalez - 11/20/18

"The signs of rejection and hatred towards the migrant caravan were not expected from Tijuana, said journalist Pablo Pérez.

 The reporter of the international channel Telesur began the journey with the caravan from October 22 and arrived in Tijuana on Friday. Pérez was present during the anti-migrant march, on Sunday, which ended with a group of protesters trying to forcibly enter the shelter of the Benito Juárez Sports Unit.
 During his stay in different municipalities, the reporter who currently lives in Mexico City became aware of the messages of xenophobia towards Central Americans, mainly on social networks. However, considering itself a migrant city, he did not imagine that these messages materialized in marches and acts of violence.

 "The actions of these problems are remarkable throughout Mexico, but they stay in the networks, until now, this is when these protests are present, there never was. For the character of this city is where I did not expect them; Tijuana is presented to us as this migrant city par excellence almost of the world, Tijuana is New York of Mexico, "he said.

With almost a month accompanying the migrants, the communicator said that, contrary to what has been handled by some sectors that are against the caravan, there is no sponsor or organizer behind the movement. "There are reasons behind this, there are no interests, there is no organization and there is no money, that is what has been accused a long time but everything is so disorganized, so chaotic, armed on the fly, there is no way of thinking about an organization , a financing, "he explained.

 Perez added that he has witnessed the problems within the group and that many of the members have no idea how they will cross into the United States. "One of the characteristics of these groups of migrants is that they distrust each other, because of their local origins, quarrels, because of their nationality, Salvadorans do not trust Hondurans," he said.

 - But the truth is, it doesn't look good for the migrantes.  So far, Frontera has reported that 90 (ninety) of them have been arrested (which means deportation from Mexico)including a reporter from Honduras.(One migrante died on the Tecate-TIJ Highway, hit by a vehicle)  According to the authorities, the arrests are for either drunken public behavior or for smoking the ganja.  In one incident, the Municipal Police went into the area where hundreds of the migrantes are staying and arrested four men for smoking weed, which nearly caused a riot. You can see the reactions of some of the Mexican women - it is anti-immigrant hysteria which is growing here.  One of my neighbors said he thought the cops planted the dope on these men.  But more and more this racist hysteria is gaining a grip on Tijuana.

In addition, business people of Rosarito are blaming the migrantes for empty hotel rooms and condos over Thanksgiving Holiday.

 - Police Chief Mario Martinez then issued this statement:

From Frontera:

75% De Integrantes De La Caravana Dan Imagen De Ser Personas Agresivas: Policia Municipal
Por, Angel F. Gonzalez

" 75% of the members of the migrant caravan give the image of being aggressive people, said the director of the Municipal Police, Mario Martínez Martínez.

Today in the morning, four men were insured by agents of the Municipal Police when they were identified as allegedly responsible for smoking marijuana inside the shelter located in the Benito Juárez Sports Unit.

In his supervisory tour, Mario Martínez Martínez assured that Tijuana does not have the capacity to receive so many migrants; Until yesterday, the number of Central Americans in Tijuana reached more than 4 thousand.

"As director of the Municipal Police, I ask for the conscience of the federal authorities, I do not understand why they are allowing so many people to enter the city of Tijuana, it is going to get out of control, it is not possible that this is happening in the city, we are doing everything possible because we do not get out of control, "he said.

The director added that, according to what he has appreciated since the arrival of the first group of the caravan, most of the members are troublemakers.

"They are rich people, 75% are seeing their characteristics that are not ordinary people, the other ladies, children, parents, the other 75% I am seeing them in that way," he said.

Since the arrival of Central American migrants until yesterday, 90 arrests were registered, however, Martinez said, to continue with the arrival of more people, it will be more difficult to maintain order.

"There can be violence, fortunately we have been able to control this situation but this problem can be out of date; most, all the people we have arrested, the majority is for drug use, you enter the shelter and you feel a characteristic smell of marijuana, "he said.

They are planning to be in the entry lanes in between the vehicles going up to the States.  Just keep your fingers crossed that the counter demonstrators (anit-immigrantes) will not be present and cause more turmoil and violence. Keep your fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong.

Latest Tijuana Execution Figures:  Oh, and keep in mind Breitbart will most likely post these figures, although they NEVER give credit to their information sources who are the local Mexican reporters. Of course not, Breitbart HATES Mexicans:

 - From Zeta who reported yesterday at 10:50 am in the last twenty five hours 17 people executed in Tijuana, bringing the monthly total up to 141 dead in the city. Apparently the Caravana Immigrante is not going to slow down the executions - we were hoping that it would, but it doesn't look that way:

17 Ejecutados En 25 Horas, Solo Tres Victimas Estan Identificados

Note: Frontera reported on 11/17 ninety four executed in Tijuana so far this month giving the YTD Tijuana figure of 2,176 dead.  Adding the difference between the two reports would put us at 2,223 executed just in Tijuana YTD.  And people are complaining about the migrantes?

 Of course, the US report never mentioned why these people left Honduras in the first place - no mention of how the US triggered and sanctioned the present despotic and repressive government  and military which has been using the Honduran people (especially the indigenous people of Honduras) as target practice, hundreds of them in addition to sanctioning the gangs on the streets. It was the United States who trained the Honduran Military in the first place.  So fuck you Jeff Sessions for going along with & announcing the  changes to asylum requirements just a short while back - you knew the US backed the Honduran government which sanctions gangs (and drug activities) - yet now, being fearful for your life due to gangs no longer can be used as a reason for asking for asylum. And these gangs make the US gangs look like altar boys.

Meanwhile food, food, food, blankets, tents, clothes all desperately needed ! You can always just drop things off at Padre Chavas. Why didn't the San Diego report mention that?

Of course by now you all know about the temporary restraining order put on Trump's new asylum rules:

Well, the authorities are saying they are looking for a facility to "rent" for the migrantes to stay in and Governor Kiko is demanding the Federal government of Mexico  give Baja California money to cover the costs.

Update/edit @ 7:00pm:  Aristegui Noticias has reported that apparently a deal has been struck and AMLO is in accord with the "Remain In Mexico" Policy, which has surprised many people:

 - From Aristegui Noticias:

 AMLO Aceptaria Plan de Trump Para Que Solicitantes de Asilo Esperen en Mexico

And Trump then not only has ordered the US Military to use deadly force against the migrantes but threatens  to completely shut down the Border.  Check this out:

 - From Aristegui Noticas:

Soldados Estadounidenses Autorizados Para Usar "Fuerza Leta" Contra Migrantes: Trump

"President Donald Trump said Thursday that he authorized US troops on the US-Mexico border to "use lethal force" if necessary against the migrant caravan, while threatening to close "the entire border" with Mexico, If the immigration situation goes out of control. "If it reaches a level where we lose control or people may be injured, we will close the entry to the country for a period of time .

The entire border, "he told reporters after a telephone conversation with members of the Army. There is "a very bad situation" in Tijuana, Trump said, and he said he authorized US soldiers to use deadly force against migrants "if they have to."

 "I have given my approval (...) I hope you do not have to do it. You are dealing with a minimum of 500 serious criminals (...) I have no other choice. I want that to happen? Absolutely not. You are dealing with rude people, "he said. HAPPY THANKSGIVING: Pres. Trump holds a teleconference to wish service members around the world to happy Thanksgiving. https://t.co/c9mlzpNYKg - ABC News (@ABC) November 22, 2018

 After a telephone conversation with military leaders on Thanksgiving Day , Trump also said that "there certainly could be" a government shutdown in December for financing the border wall.

 Trump received an updated report from the air commander, General David Lyons, on the state of the fight against the Taliban and members of the Islamic State (IS) in Afghanistan and took the opportunity to refer to the migrant caravan.

 "Keep them away from our shores. That is why we are making strong borders, you have surely seen in the news what happens on the southern border (...) large contingents and in many cases we do not know who they are and in many cases they are bad people, bad people, "said Trump from West Palm Beach. "We are not going to let anyone in, essentially (...) you are doing it over there, we are doing it here. We have their people on the border, military on the border for the first time (...) There has never been a Presidency like this, we have a powerful border now, "he said. Trump said the United States has the border wall and "with things that people can not even imagine." "We took care of the decomposed wall and wrapped it with barbed wire 'plus', and no one is going to enter these walls," said the president

. A San Francisco court recently invalidated Trump's plan to limit asylum or refugee applications to US border crossing points, since the law allows it to do so from anywhere in the country. "It's a terrible thing when the judges tell you how to protect the border, it's a disgrace. We are winning and you are winning, "he told the military commander. During the conversation, to commemorate the main non-religious holiday in the United States, the president made a round of talks with military leaders of the various branches of the Armed Forces and the Coast Guard.  "

Tijuana Is Not The City Of Peace, Love and Fish Tacos - Anti-Immigrante Sentiment Is Rabid And Vile

Hoping my connection is on the road to recovery, what a hassle.

As though Tijuana did not have enough problems with the violence of the drug war, crime, impunity, corruption, contamination of the ocean waters, women and children trafficking and lack of a solid infrastructure, the anti-immigrante sentiment appears to be gaining momentum and these people are also wild-eyed and violent. It is shocking and I don't know why it should be - we know of  Mexican people down in Ensenada who despise the Jornaleros and treat them like dirt. Talk about a caste system, does this remind anyone of India pre-independence?

 Still, it is shocking after all of the help and aid given to the Caravana Migrante by Mexican nationals from their hearts from Oaxaca northwards.  To top it off, Trump the prick is in accord with this vigilante anti-immigrante group and the Mayor of Tijuana.  So maybe it's not such a good idea for me to be driving around with "Fuck Trump" bumper stickers on my car. Hmmm...

We only made one delivery today and missed the demonstrations because we were on the other end of town, but streets have been closed off permanently in the Zona Norte, and traffic going up or coming back through San Ysidro POE is a nightmare - so keep that in mind if you are on your up or back. One interesting thing we saw two weekends ago going up @ SYPOE was a demonstration for the deported USA Veterans and they are also collecting donations so slow down and give them something. Just seeing that is enough to wrench your heart, these guys are for real. Nothing like being kicked in the teeth, and Trump the sadist knows how to do that so well.

 - The good news from Frontera is that Padre Solalinde will arrive in Tijuana  with the last group of migrantes, he said they will be seeking asylum in the USA, and if not there in Canada. So, this group should be here tomorrow.  What a wonder this man is, fantastico !

Now the ugly events:

 - Around 9:00 am the anti-immigration march starts @ the Cuauhtemoc glorietta.

 -  Noon Frontera reports that hundreds of anti-immigrante protestors attempt to break down the concrete barriers and enter the area where the migrantes are sheltered:

"Hundreds of protesters against Central American migrants tried to enter the area where people are sheltered.

In the anti-immigrant protest, young people and adults participate, who in unison of 'outside Hondurans' and with banners 'To my country is respected' try to break down the concrete barriers and back away from the human barrier formed by the federal police.

Protestants have also waved Mexican flags and shouted expletives at those who defend the rights of migrants."

 - Zeta reports on the same event, adding that the pro-immigrante group (around 40 people) who had formed and were also planning to march disbanded after being assaulted by anti-immigrante protestors. Additionally, at the fracas reported above by Frontera,the anti-immigrante protestors assaulted reporters, including a reporter from Zeta:

" The group of demonstrators in favor of migrants broke the concentration they held in the roundabout of "Las Tijeras" because of the threats of the group that demonstrates against.

The protesters who are against arrived at the temporary shelter in the North Zone where the migrants are refugees. There they assaulted reporters, including a ZETA journalist."

Citizens Of Playas De Tijuana Reject the Migrantes In A Violent Manner (Added videos); Unsure If There Will Be More Clashes Tonight - Three Men Shot and Killed Inside Topanco Restaurante Rosarito Beach

Courtesy Frontera

We have been without a computer, phone & TV for almost seven days - our server went down prior to the big winds; when the Santa Ana hit we lost all power.  Basically what I had here was an emergency radio.  Finally late this afternoon the server was back up with a few problems and electricity was restored two days ago.

 Meanwhile, Mike was bit by a dog here at SADM, he needed ten stitches to his hand which he received from the Red Cross in Rosarito - so just a reminder when the Red Cross kids are asking for donations, give generously - their treatment was completely professional, he goes back in in a few more days to have the stitches removed.  Fortunately we found out the dog did have his rabies vaccine. Paris was furious ! We have also been putting together care packages for the migrantes which need to be delivered to the hostels.

  Finally after four months I was able to see an orthopedic specialist for my knee and he gave me a cortisone shot, will return in another four months for another shot.  But I look around at all the projects I was supposed to have completed before the Holidays and of course, nothing was accomplished because I could barely walk.  The Doctor is a complete gas, he's a bit older than us, grew up in Newport Beach (the Wedge !) and lived on the same block as Dick Dale. So, it was people like him and his brother who really set the tone for the surfing counterculture, stoked here...

Next, when I went to San Diego I left the downstairs slider open just a bit for Daca Bob & Susan to come in out of the winds which was a mistake. The wind was so strong it blew the front door open, so that along with the slider slightly open meant coming home to dirt and dust completely covering everything.  Thank God for the cortisone shot, I was able to get most of the mess cleaned up yesterday, still more to do.

But tonight it is especially uneasy around here, three men shot and killed inside our favorite restaurant - Topanco on Popotla Blvd. in Rosarito.  I just said to Mike over last weekend that we really needed to go there again if I can find a babysitter for Paris - best salads, everything, what a great place. Hopefully, Carmen Gutierrez will have more details tomorrow for us.  Not to mention Ensenada and points south are hotbeds of violence - I will return with those reports. Tijuana is on a continuing violent streak with at this point this month reporting 76+ executions giving a YTD total of 2,162+.

And now, no one is really sure if there will be another confrontation tonight between the citizens of Playas de Tijuana and members of the Caravana Migrante. Although the residents of Playas claim not to be anti-immigrant or racist and only trying to protect their families, surely the confrontation(s) was xenophobic in nature, a mob mentality based on under education and fear hysteria - much like the followers of Trump.  In the end, it was a dark night and a black star for Playas de Tijuana.

Caravana Migrantes en Tijuana:

 - All Local & National Details here: - And Note to Date, No Coverage Of These Local Events On Aristegui Noticias.

Frontera

Caravana Migrante

 - Summary:

 - Last Sunday, the LGBT group of 80-85 migrantes arrived in Tijuana and for a short time were at the Malecon in Playas de Tijuana, much to the dismay of local residents.  They have found  shelter in  private homes.

 - 11/13:

 -  Second group consisting of 350-400 migrantes arrives in Tijuana  landing at Padre chavas from there they were sent to local hostels, some went to Playas de Tijuana.

 - 11/14:

 - A third group of 343 people in eight trucks arrive in Tijuana.

 - Emma de la Cabada Cortes attempts to organize an anti-immigrante demonstration at the Municipal Palacio, no one showed up.

 - In Playas, a slight confrontation between two migrantes who have scaled the barrier and the US Military.  Meanwhile, US Military is reinforcing the barrier at Playas right in front of the migrantes, and hundreds of US Military are highly visible flexing their weird muscles on the US side, lots of tanks and guns.

 - Dozens of migrantes spend the first night at Playas, not wanting to be separated from their families.

 - Aaron Pallares leads the first demonstration against the Caravana Migrante confronting migrantes with jeers and insults, telling them point blank they do not want them there in Playas.

11/15:

 - Early am 13 busloads of 544 people followed by three more trucks carrying 120 people arrive in Tijuana, first stop is Padre Chavas. the problem is where to put everyone, we have heard there are only 900 vacant spots for people.

 - 92 migrantes reported attempting to organize at the Malecon in Playas to address the verbal confrontgations used against them by the residents of Playas de Tijuana.  At this point, the anti-immigrante group on the ground stands at 200 (two hundred!) angry people, hurling insults and Frontera reports, acrually beating up the migrantes.  Police form a barrier separating the two groups.  Unfreakin belivable.

 - In separate events, one man (Guatemalan), two women and a minor and another woman with three children cross the line at Playas and turn themselves in to Border Patrol, while their compadres beg them not to do it, but they do.

 - 300 migrantes intend to return to Playas de Tijuana to spend another night because they do not want to be separated from their families - which happens when they are placed in hostels. Another report states that some of these migrantes have been bused back into the city, we'll just have to watch the reports that come in.

 - Five migrantes are arrested; two of them for causing a disturbance at Playas and three on drugs charges.

 - Parque de la Amistad (Freindship Park) on the US side will be closed over the weekend.

These two reports from Zeta:

Residentes de Playas de Tijuana Agreden e Insultan a Migrantes Centro Americanos
por, Lourdes Luza Romero - 11/14/18

Pasted:

"Residents of Playas de Tijuana organized tonight to demonstrate against the members of the Migrant Caravan, but ended up insulting and verbally assaulting around 100 Central American migrants, who planned to sleep in camps installed under the lighthouse located on the Malecón de la city.

At first, the neighbors of the area, who since the arrival of the first group of the Caravan belonging to the LGBT community that arrived at a home of the Playas de Tijuana delegation expressed their dissatisfaction with the presence of the migrants, met to discuss their concerns.

Mainly, they declared to the media they were worried about their security and wanting to be informed about the number of migrants that would arrive and if they had any criminal antecedents.

However, the residents of the area decided to march with Mexican flags to where the migrants were. Immediately, a group of men and women began insulting the migrants and demanding that they leave the country.

Elements of the Municipal Police and the Federal Police that were present at the site intervened so that the demonstrators did not physically attack the migrants, since some of them were already lying on the floor in sleeping bags.

However, the Central Americans assured that they were not criminals, asked for respect and thanked the help that other Mexicans have given them on their way to Tijuana.

"These are leaving all Mexicans in trouble," said one of the migrants, while the protesters continued with their rejection phrases.

 Until 10:00 at night, only half of the migrants had agreed to get on the trucks, for which it required six laps of trucks.

"May God soften their conscience and let them know that we are emigrants, we are not criminals. All of us who have come in this caravan have suffered 38 days to come here, in no state have they told us a dog, they have all given us everything. If I'm wearing shoes it's because they gave it to me, if I'm warm, it's because they know it was ice cream, "said Jairo Soto, one of the Honduran migrants.
For their part, the residents of Playas opted to sing the national anthem and shout slogans of "Mexico!", As well as applaud each time a truck with migrants left for the shelters."

Agresiones a Migrantes en Plays de tijuana Terminan con Pedradas y Agresiones a Prensa
Por, Lourdes Laza Romero - 11/15/18

Pasted:

"During the transfer of the Central American migrants to the temporary shelter that was enabled in the afternoon and evening of Wednesday, the municipal and state governments, a group of citizens who identified themselves as "residents" of the Playas de Tijuana subdivision physically and verbally assaulted the migrants and the representatives of the different media of the city.

The first attempt at violence was carried out by the migrants themselves, who around six in the afternoon had differences with the Central Americans who climb the border fence, given that the rest of the group does not see this action as positive for their movement.

It was at this moment when a group of citizens arrived who demanded that the authorities relocate the migrants, because they feared for their safety and those of their families. Initially it was reported that there were around 100 citizens who arrived at the Lighthouse and complicated the work of transferring the migrants to the temporary shelter.

Small groups of Central Americans agreed to retire and go to the shelter offered by the authorities, while the citizens kept shouting and intimidating the few municipal and federal elements for being "traitors to the country" in trying to safeguard the integrity of the migrants.

At nightfall, there were few migrants who continued with the intention of staying out in the open, but the citizens, some of whom consumed alcoholic beverages while demonstrating, continued with their hostile actions.

Several acts of violence were stifled by the authorities, until a female protester confronted a young man who had come to the site to donate food for the migrants, the federal authority this time only withdrew the victim, who was left with a wound underneath. his right eye.

The migrants were uneasy and responded verbally to the attacks, while the pro-migrant activists and the police asked them to stand aside and remain silent.

It was after midnight that citizens in an advanced state of drunkenness began to attack with pushes and punches to the press after the refusal of cameramen and photographers to stop recording them and turn off their equipment.

While the police elements remained in a corner observing the development of the conflict, the women demonstrators began throwing stones at the migrants and the reporters, who moved away to avoid further aggresions.

In the place still migrated women and children, who were the first to run where they could to be safe from the rain of stones, while the municipal and federal were more concerned about moving their units from the line of fire.

Almost at 2:00 in the morning, while the arrival of a fourth group of Central Americans was coming to the city, the group of aggressor citizens was dispersed and the few migrants sought a shelter in fear of new attacks, only municipal police they were on guard in the place.
The municipal authority did not make any arrest of the aggressors and in the last event, they were not seriously injured either."

"In 2013, when the Federal Law to Prevent and Eliminate Discrimination (LFPED) was enacted in Mexico - there is even a Council - the reform that allowed it was made to the Constitution in 2001. However, the hate campaigns carried out in social networks and the aggressive demonstration that took place between the night of 14 and the morning of November 15 between some people who presented themselves as residents of the Playas de Tijuana delegation and members of the caravan of Honduran migrants -with reporters in between-, evidence that good intentions on paper are far from reality.

Faced with the social exhaustion of corruption and incompetence of governments, the lack of information, the absence of actions and prevention by the authorities in the face of the migratory phenomenon - despite the fact that they began to meet one month in advance - could justify that there are doubts and fears, and if the citizens want to manifest them through mass and public marches, they are also in their right.

What transgresses the limits, at least the legal ones, is physical and verbal violence.
It is more serious when this happens in a state like Baja California, in a city like Tijuana, where the vast majority are migrants, where a high percentage of residents cross daily to work or study in the United States. Tijuana residents of third, fourth or fifth generation, and live in this area because their predecessors decided to travel north to seek a better life.

Finally, the enactment of laws and the constitution of a council make it clear that racism and Mexican classism is not a new issue. Only in August, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) published the results of the National Survey on Discrimination (Enadis), and for the third time, they were not very flattering.

"The survey provides information to know the prevalence of discrimination and its manifestations in Mexico. Skin tone, manner of speaking, weight, height, form of dress or personal grooming, social class, religious beliefs, sex, age and sexual orientation ".

It turned out that 23.3 percent of the population of 18 years or older, considers that in the past five years they were unjustifiably denied some right; 20.2% said they had been discriminated against due to some personal characteristic or condition. The main reasons were dress or personal grooming, weight or height, religious beliefs and age.

Also, 40.3% of the indigenous population and 58.3% of people with disabilities were discriminated against because of their condition. And 39.1% of the respondents said that they would not rent a department to a person because they were foreigners, 38.6% would not rent to a young person, and 36.4% would not give the service to a transsexual client. 44.7% agreed that "the more religions allowed in the country, the more social conflicts will occur". And 24.5% consider that "people with disabilities are of little help at work".

The survey determined that the main situation or action of discrimination is to throw or receive insults, and with that type of actions the aforementioned manifestation announced as peaceful began to be distorted, which ended with people being beaten.

Precisely that Mexican racism and classism, which we have even measured, is what makes it very clear who is not fulfilling their role, but decided to break the thread for the thinnest. They are complaining about what the authority is doing and not doing about the migrants; of what the government is spending and not investing in the Mexicans, but instead of questioning the officials, this week they decided to launch their frustration against the members of the caravan of Central Americans in front of a handful of police officers who simply let the violence happen. I will climb
Citizens are in their legitimate right to demand actions and responses, but first the Law is clear in stating that it must be without violence, otherwise it becomes a crime; and second, the complaints should be made to the authorities that are not responding, or clarifying their concerns.

Without delving into the legal, social and humanitarian implications that this caravan represents, the reality is that if they want security or cleanliness in the area, if they want the money of Mexicans not be spent on foreigners - as if the dollars sent by nationals since the United States was not one of the main sources of income in Mexico, then its energy should be directed to the people of the government responsible for making these decisions. Because none of the Central Americans has the capacity, nor the authority, to decide about it."

  Well here's a thought, it is possible that the Central Americans who were climbing up and sitting atop the barrier were sent by Jimmy "The Rat" Morelos , Presidente of Guatemala to cause trouble, ya think ? I guess we won't be taking the supplies over to the Playas. Those women from Playas looked...rough.

Also today taking more supplies.
